I'm Not Ready

I've realized something.

I'm not ready to make another movie right now. Making a movie is really important to me, but right now I need to get things straightened around. Driver's test aside, I'm working on trying to launch something freelance for myself, and so far, making a movie has mostly been an afterthought. Creating a safety net for myself is important.

My goal was to finish something in time for the 2009 SXSW Festival, but I don't know if that's really going to happen. That I've had to reconcile to this makes me sad, but I have to choose my battles.

This blog is going to go through a major overhaul in the next couple of weeks.

$4000 / $5 Donations = 800 People

The bad news? I've jacked the trip price to $4000. The good news? I've got a plan to raise the money.

Here's the plan: If I can get $5.00 from each and every one of you, I will be able to meet my goal of raising $4K by March 5th.

$4000 / $5 Donations = 800 People

Hypothetically speaking, I've already recieved donations from 11 people, so I have 789 people left to go.

The Cool Inclusive Club

So I've decided to make a movie about Mumblecore during my trip to SXSW. Most of the budget is already there (the trip, of course), but it does mean I'll have to add on another $500 or so. I think that doing this will actually give me a focal point for the trip, and help me warm up for my first narrative feature.

I was looking at Mopac Media's website. On top of camera rentals, they also offer the service of helping you crew.

And I already have a title, too: The Cool Inclusive Club (go rent Mutual Appreciation to figure out the reference). A website should be up soon.

granterinswish.com NOW OPEN!

GrantErinsWish.com is now officially up and running. This is the fundraising campaign that will get me to SXSW. My campaign also has a MySpace page as well. While I will blog here intermittently, I will be tending to this for the next several weeks (and possibly months), as well as passing my driver's test.

I will resume blogging here full-time when my movie project goes into full force.

On A Mission

Earlier this week, I read Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own. So good, it made me want to go out and write my own feminist book. But that will be another time. At the very least, I was inspired enough to try and dig up my copy of Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex, which I started my senior year of college but never finished.

In more relevant news, my plan to get money to go down to SXSW is almost done, and should be ready within the next 48 hours. I just have to fix a few things and make a short intro video, and it should be up in no time.
